Evolution and developmental biology, limb development, agamid lizards, developmental genetics

I completed my Bachelor of Science at the University of Melbourne majoring in genetics and zoology, with a Diploma in Political Science. For my Honours year I will be conducting an evolutionary developmental investigation of the vertebrate limb, using the morphologically diverse radiation of Australian agamid lizards under the supervision of Dr Jane Melville at Museum Victoria.

I will be investigating DNA sequence variation of limb development genes in a variety of Australian agamids to investigate if gene sequence variation correlates with limb morphological differences. I will also examine the spatiotemporal expression of certain limb development genes in agamid lizards during development to investigate if gene expression has a role in determining limb length.
