IntroductionMuseum Victoria has commenced publication of a series of identification handbooks to the marine fauna of southeastern Australia. Authors and contributing photographers include many staff and Honorary Associates of Museum Victoria. This publication project is being supported by a number of sponsors and wih the active co-operation of many highly skilled and committed amateur naturalists, divers and photographers, including members of ReefWatch Victoria and the Marine Research Group of the Field Naturalists Club of Victoria. The first three titles, An introduction to marine life and Crabs, hermit crabs and allies, were published in late 2007, followed by Barnacles in 2009 more titles anticipated in 2010 and beyond. We have had a wide readership in mind for these field guides, including secondary school students as well as those in higher education, as well as amateur naturalists, beachcombers, divers and others with an interest in life in the sea. |
