Lacydoniidae
Lacydoniids are are apparently widespread; although poorly studied they are known from scattered records from polar to tropical seas and from the intertidal to depths of 5600 m. There are no studies of the biology or ecology of lacynodiids. The revision by Uschakov (1972) is the most recent original review of the family. Worldwide, there are two genera, Lacydonia and Pseudolacydonia, and eight species. (Paralacydonia is now recognised as belonging in its own family; Fauchald & Rouse 1997). Uschakov (1972) provided a key to genera and species of Lacydonia. No lacydoniids have been recorded from mainland Australian waters, but two species are known from Antarctic waters: Lacydonia mikrops and Lacydonia oculata (Ehlers 1913; Pleijel & Fauchald 1993).
