Pectinariidae
Natural History
Pectinariids are selective subsurface deposit feeders which live almost perpendicular in the sediment, head down. They are rarely abundant but are widespread, especially on well-sorted sandy sediments.
Diversity
Globally, Fauchald (1977) recognised 5 genera and 46 species of pectinariids. The only more recent treatment has been Hutchings & Peart (2001) who described two genera and six species (of which 5 were new) from Australian waters.
