Poecilochaetidae
The Poecilochaetidae are benthic polychaetes that are most often found in fine sediments, mostly in shallow warm temperate seas. Three species are known from the deep sea. Little is known of the biology of poecilochaetids, although they are capable of both surface deposit and suspension feeding, using their grooved palps. The Poecilochaetidae includes a single genus, Poecilochaetus (previously placed in the Trochochaetidae) and at least 31 species globally. About 4 species, 3 of which may be undescribed, are known from Australian waters.
