Protodriloididae

Natural History

Protodriloidids are small to minute interstitial polychaetes. Protodriloidids are not well known but inhabit coarse sediments in detritus-poor intertidal or subtidal where they creep by means of their ventral ciliary band and adhere to sand grains by the mucus and using their chaetae.

Diversity

Only two species of Protodriloididae are known: Protodriloides symbioticus and P. chaetifer. None are yet recorded from Australia, although they are known from New Zealand.
