Aeolosomatidae

Natural History

The Aelosomatidae are predominantly freshwater polychaetes which inhabit interstitial spaces, but a few species have been found in estuarine areas and one species to date has been recorded from the marine environment.

Diversity

About 30 species of Aelosomatidae have been described worldwide. Although there are no published records of aeolosomatids from Australia, members of the group are widely distributed throughout Australia (A.Pinder & R. Kristensen, personal communication).
