Comments
Laubier (1963) reviewed the genus and provided a key to all species of Cossura known at that time. Fournier & Petersen (1991) reviewd the characters used to distinguish species of Cossura.
Cossurella Hartman, 1976
Description
Body divided into 2 regions. Thoracic parapodia with fascicles of long, tapering plumose chaetae. Abdominal parapodia with 1 (rarely 2) acicular chaeta in each ramus, sometimes accompanied by single smooth capillary chaeta; acicular chaetae short, smooth spines or long, tapering plumose chaetae with stout, spine-like base. Median tentacle inserted between chaetigers 2/3 or 3/4. [after Ewing, 1987]
Comments
Heterocossura was synonymised with Cossurella by Ewing (1987). Ewing (1987) reviewed the genus and provided a key to all 5 known species of Cossurella.
