Parergodrilidae
Parergodrilids are tiny grub-shaped worms that lack head and pygidial appendages and parapodial lobes. The genus Stygocapitella is interstitial in sand from caves and on beaches. The genus Parergodrilus inhabits decomposing terrestrial plant debris. Little is known about parergodrilids, but they are presumably deposit feeders which use the eversible tongue-like organ to browse food particles. Only 2 species of parergodrilids are known, each in its own genus: Parergodrilus heideri (found in leaf litter throughout Europe) and Stygocapitella subterranea (reported from widespread locations from caves and on beaches).
