Questidae

Natural History

The Questidae are oligochaete-like polychaetes: elongate, slender and with a head lacking appendages. They probably occur world-wide but many questids studied to date occur in coral sands in tropical latitudes. Questids feed on bacteria and diatoms.

Diversity

The Questidae contains a single genus, Questa, containing 8 species. (Following Giere & Erséus (1998) Novaquesta is treated as a synonym of Questa.) A single species, Q. ersei from the Great Barrier Reef, is thus far recorded from Australia.
